Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.” -Charles Swindoll
I truly believe this quote is accurate for all aspects of our lives, especially fertility. The fertility journey can be very challenging (an understatement I know) and can make us feel that we don’t have control over anything. I challenge my readers today to take a different approach – if “Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it” then apply this statement to your fertility. Yes, you have PCOS, low sperm count, or unexplained infertility. But how are you going to react to it? Can you make a change so that your mindset affects fertility in a positive way?
We can’t control everything (or most) of what happens to us. We can’t control how other people behave or react. But we can control how we react.
With your fertility journey this week, let’s use that 90% to our advantage and take a more positive approach. Let’s take control of what we can, and begin to elicit some change in our health, fertility, and our quality of life. Here’s some ideas to help get you started:
- Meditation – can be as simple as setting a timer for 5 minutes, closing your eyes and focusing on your breath.
- Develop a mantra to repeat to yourself when you start losing hope or encounter a negative situation. Something such as “I am fertile” or “I will be a parent” may be helpful.
You are stronger than you think, and you will get through this. And as with many things the journey is just as important as the destination.
I hope you found this blog helpful. If so, please share it with someone that could benefit.
Until next time – don’t stop dreaming!
