What is a preconception health coach and fertility consultant?
As a preconception health coach and fertility consultant I look at the overall health of an individual (both individuals if working with a couple) to determine the aspects of both the reproductive system and other bodily systems that need support. I then create a plan to achieve this goal using supplements, herbal recommendations, diet changes, as well as other lifestyle changes when appropriate. A complete plan includes a Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment plan for you to take to a licensed acupuncturist in your area to use in compliment to our work together.
What is the purpose of the consult?
My purpose is to look for ways to improve your health to increase your chances of conception and a healthy live birth.
What does the initial consult include?
The consult includes a review of your previous fertility workup(s), fertility history, overall health history, your menstrual cycle, current diet, and instructions for how to take your basal body temperatures. This will allow me to create a Chinese Medicine diagnosis and a treatment plan including recommendations for diet, supplements, herbal therapy, exercise, and acupuncture. You will have most of these recommendations at the end of the consult, but the acupuncture treatment plan will be sent to you afterwards, within 3-5 business days.
What is the cost?
The work I do with clients is more effective if we work together for at least a month, therefore we have several different packages available. See our our Services section for more information. And if you don’t see what you need or want, just reach out through the Contact page so we can come up with a solution that works for you.
How are coaching consults and follow-up sessions conducted?
Consults and ongoing coaching sessions are conducted over the phone or through a video system such as Skype (clients’ preference).
We’ve been trying to conceive for some time now, can your program still help me/us?
It’s never too late to start achieving optimal health, and your health prior to conception and during pregnancy will have an impact on your child (or children). In my experience, any improvement in a person’s health increases their chances of conception, but more importantly, a healthy live birth.
We’re thinking about doing IVF or IUI in a few months. Should we wait until then to start your program?
Absolutely not. The sooner you begin this program, the sooner we can begin improving your health. You may find that you still need to use IUI or IVF to conceive, but getting as healthy as possible beforehand will help improve your chances of success in a healthy live birth. And procedures like IUI and IVF don’t come with a 100% success rate, so anything we can do to improve your health should help improve your chances of success.
We’re trying to conceive naturally. Is your program for couples like us?
Absolutely! I work with couples trying to conceive naturally, as well as any other combination of assisted reproductive techniques. And if your plans change while we’re working together, then we’ll change your plan to compliment it.
